The EuroMeSCo network held its Annual Conference and General Assembly on 2nd and 3rd of October 2014 in Tarragona. The event gathered more than 90 participants from 25 Euro-Mediterranean countries, including policy-makers and experts from 60 research institutes on politics and security in the Mediterranean.
The General Assembly discussed the activities undertaken by the EuroMeSCo network in the last year, including research projects, workshops, conferences and publications. It also approved the Work Plan for 2015 and the Annual Report. The General Assembly welcomed a new institute to the network, raising the total number of the EuroMeSCo members and observers to 100.

The Annual Conference “Increasing diversity in the Euro-Mediterranean region?” analysed the opportunities and challenges resulting from the growing fragmentation and diversity in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The sessions explored the role of internal and external actors in regional conflicts and in supporting democratic transitions. The experts also focused on the current state of political reforms and analysed the factors behind continuity and change of the regional political systems. They also explored the role of the EU in the Mediterranean region and put forward a series of policy recommendations to enhance the EU´s leverage and the impact of its policies.

EuroMeSCo will participate in the organisation of the Second Symposium on Security in the Mediterranean, to be held in Tunis on 2 and 3 May 2013 and organised by the Centre d’Études Méditerranéennes et Internationales (CEMI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of Tunisia and the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The meeting will focus on four main areas: Deepening of the various dialogues on security in the Mediterranean, cooperation on security in the western basin of the Mediterranean, threats to security in the Mediterranean region and terrorism and counter-terrorism. Participation to this workshop is by invitation only.
